Default Client Name On Title Block

Anyone know how to get a field for the Client Name on the title block?
I can see how ThisDoc!Prop.ProjectName gets the Project Name on the sheet, and ProjectZip, ProjectCity etc. but what about he Client Name?

Any thoughts?

I spent about an hour trying to figure this out last night, would love to hear if you ever got it to work?

I gave up. SI5 is using a background sheet now which covers all drawing pages. Placing this info on that one sheet is not a big deal to me. Placing it manually on every sheet in SI4 was a big deal.

I will add a Prop.ProjectContact to the templates that will be in the next patch. It is kind of complicated but it is possible for you to make these edits yourself but it requires some Visio ShapeSheet experience.

Let me know if you want to know how or we should have a patch by the end of the week.

I am interested in knowing how. I am not expecting a course on shape sheets, but enough info for me to research the rest would be appropriate.
Also, a list of any other properties I would have access to, or if there is way to browse those properties.

Thanks.

OK, you asked for it, this is beyond anything we train or support though.

1: Go to the background title page

2: Click View>> Drawing Explorer Window

3: Click on the Drawing Explorer Window and right click on the Visio icon with the file path. Select Show ShapeSheet

4: All the properties Prop.x on the Shape Data section are available for automatic insert in the document

5: Create a text box anywhere in the document and add some text like 123

6: Highlight the text you just created right click and choose Insert Field

7: Go to the Custom Formula Category and type in TheDoc!Prop.ProjectName, click OK

8: Notice how the 123 changed to the project name? You can do that with any of the custom properties in the Shape Data section.

Nice!

So can I request that ClientName get added to the shape sheet as well or is it already there and I'm missing it? I traditionally put the client name and the project name on my title blocks.

Thanks!

No Client Name prop. The attached jpg has a list of current custom props that are part of the document. You can add any of those by following the instructions above.

In any case I have also attached an updated DT Annotations.vss stencil. This stencil has the improved Smart title frame shape. What you need to do is:

1: Go to the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\D-Tools\SI5\Visualizations\Stencils folder and rename the DT Annotations.vss file to DT Annotations-bak.vss

2: Extract the attached zip file into the same folder as #1

3: Modify the smart frame L-scape shape with your company logo or whatever you have done to this shape in the past.

4: You should have the Prop.ProjectContact as part of the title frame fro now on.

Adam,

Thanks for the info and help. Is there anyway to get the Client Name in the future?
