Default Wire and Cable Label

Some time ago I stumbled around and managed to apply the "Finish W/Mod+ID" to some of my wire products. I really like having the model and CompID on the label and would like to add that to all of my wire products in the drawing. is there a way of accomplishing this?

Well it only took you 15 minutes to get smart. I'm still wondering what the answer is...share. I don't have extra brain power to figure this out today...

If the wires are already inserted onto the drawing area do as follow:

1) From the drawing area select one wire (block).
2) In the command line enter “BEDIT”.
3) Then select the “MODEL” attribute.
4) CTRL 1 (to show the properties window/pallet).
5) At the very bottom of the properties window look for the “Misc” section.
6) The “Invisible” value “Yes” change it to “No”.
7) Move the “MODEL” attribute to the desire location (top, bottom of the wire).
8) Save and Close the block editor.

If the wires are not dropped yet, just do the same to the Wire and Cable dwg (finish wire block). And/Or assign this wire block to the desire wire product via “edit products” window as your default visualization.

Let me know if this is what you need.

You can do one of the following things:

1) Use the replace function from the right click and pick the “Finish W/Mod+ID” shape
2) Set the visualization for your wire product via “Edit Product” window
3) This one will take you longer:
a. Select a inserted wire and right click on it
b. Select “Show Shapesheet”
c. Add an extra row in the “Shape Data” section
d. Rename the new row to “Model” and set the formula to “Model”
e. Add a new row for the “Text Fields” with the format similar to the existing as the componenID, the only difference is the value as “Pro.Model”

I went about it differently, maybe "wrongly", but my ultimate goal was to achieve two goals. First was getting the Model and ComponentID on the shape. Secondly I wanted to have one shape for wire listed in the "Pre-Wire" or "rough-in" phase and another shape for "finish wire". I opened up the wire and cable stencil and found the wire that did what I wanted (Finish W/Mod+ID) and copied it to the "Finish Wire" shape. I formatted the text the way I wanted it and saved the stencil. This accomplished the my first goal quite well. Works great!

I am still working on getting my second goal. I am not very familiar yet with a lot of the Shape data components so any help in that area would be helpful. Basically I want a the same Shape as above but I want an open arrow for pre-wire phase wire and a closed arrow for finish wire. Any thoughts?

You did pretty good!
Also you can get it done by renaming both shapes (just swap names).
Regards the second idea, what you mean with “open arrow”? A solid arrow head?
