Default Where is shape stencil data stored?

Usage scenario. I drag a specific icon onto a drawing from the stencil. Now that item always takes that shape when I drag it from the data matrix onto a different page. Where is the data stored that ties that item to a specific shape? Once there are a lot of items in a drawing, what would be the easiest way to change the shape (plan view for instance) on all of them:

a. Without having to go to every page and right click and "change shape"
b. So that when they are dragged onto other pages on the drawing they retain the new shape.

Same question applies to items in the master table. What causes an item in the master table to default to a specific shape when there is nothing entered on the visualizations tab for the item?

David,

These are the general rules for choosing a shape for a item when dropped from PDM or Product Explorer -

1. First look if any shape defined in Visualizations tab for the page type - if defined use that.

2. If no shape defined in visualziations tab look at page type
a. If Line page - In Category stencil use "Line Image" if shape has an image or "Line" if shape has no image
b. If Elevation page. Look In Category stencil if there is a master with the same name as the product type then use that. For example product has a type = Subwoofer and there is a master called Subwoofer in the product's Category stencil then we will use that master. If we cannot find this "Type" master we use the general "Elevation" shape from the category stencil.
c. If Plan use the "Plan Icon" master from category stencil
d. If Schematic use the Schematic master from category stencil

The "Change Shape" and "Insert Alternate View" have a checkbox "Save default visualization for this view". If you check this option the shape you change to will become the shape in the Visualziations tab and be used the next time for the item for the current view type.

One way to replace all shapes to a new better shape would be --

1. Define the shape you want in the visualization tab for the item.

2. Do a Find and Replace and replace all of "X" products with the same "X" product and keep CompID the same. When replacing the shapes should update to the shape defined in the visualziaton tab.

This option needs more testing but should work. Otherwise there is no global shape replace option.
