Default Text Blcoks

I am using Visio to create plans. I import a DXF file and then drag symbols in. Great. The only problem is the default symbols are lousy. I have my own ones I wish to use. I can create these and then get them displayed. The only trouble is when I use custom symbols, I loose the Text Blocks option. I need to have the component ID displayed in a text block when i put a symbol in.

I would have thought when you cange the image for a symbol, everything else stays the same. Obviously not.

How do I get my text blocks into my custom symbols?
