Exclamation Visio Shapes Disppearing

I have left a similar post somewhere else, but feels it applies here.

I have, on several occasions, had Visio revert shapes back to their original shapes. Or even delete them completely, but retain them in the DM. What's going on?!

In the beginning, I was re-inserting the shapes into the drawing. I was remembering where the locations were and what wiring was associated with it (above and beyond what was required; video disty). It wasn't until days later, when I saw that there were 'extra' items in the DM that were not on the drawing page. So, I have to delete them, but be careful as to not delete what's on the page. After all that re-inserting, wires that are in place move as if they've never been connected. Is this normal?

Now for shapes reverting...

This is more for flows than anything else. I spent the better part of yesterday preparing my page for flows; organizing inputs/outputs, direction of flow, et al. I connected wires to the schematic shapes in order to collapse them so it looks cleaner on the page. This morning I go to start making connections, only to find that EVERYTHING I had done the day before were reverted back to nothing. Some of my shapes retained their I/O's, but a select few did not. The one's that were not were in the format we all know as having no I/O's. Now what's to say that this is not going to happen once I have this project completed? I do not want to spend all day working on something that is going to revert back the next time I open the project!

Anyone else having similar issues or am I the only one in the middle of the frozen lake on thin ice hoping it won't crack?
