Default Basic annoyances of Visio

Would love to know if there is a way to have the Aspect ratio protection turned on by default. Coming from the Adobe world of graphics, shift has been my best friend (Shift + mouse drag = resize proportional). I find it tedious to right click > format > protection & click Aspect Ratio.

Also... this might just be on my computers, but....

When I go to Insert > Picture > from File, all the icons show up as thumbnails. Even if I change the view to show as list or details, the next time I go back to import a file... Poof... Thumbnails again!

These are my top two annoyances... is there a fix?

Are you saying you don't want to have to use the Shift key to maintain the aspect?

If these are at the top of your annoyance list, you must live a sheltered life.

Which shapes are you referring to?

Yes... I'd rather not use the shift. Shift + Drag works when you grab a middle square... out of habit, I grab the corner square to resize. Shift + drag on the corner square does not scale proportionally.

sheltered life... maybe... but these are things I run into on a daily basis and if they are simple fixes, I'd be happy.

Which shapes... Any image that I import, or many of the basic visio shapes.

I know what you mean on the thumbnail thing. Had that same thought.

As for the aspect ratio, I can only speak for the SI shapes. Most are going to be aspect locked or size locked. Images inserted, yeah, thats pretty much not an option that i know of either. I dug around some too.

By default, pulling on a corner handle in Visio preserves the aspect of the shape. Pulling on middle handles allows resize in one dimension. Holding Shift overrides the corner-handle behavior. So if you make a habit of pulling corner handles, your aspect-lock is kind of ON by default.

There are some shapes in Visio and in SI that have aspect-ratio locked because it makes sense for the shape. In these cases, you can't override the lock, and pulling on any handle causes a proportional resize.
