Default Adding shapes without adding items

Can anyone shed some light on how I might be able to add shapes to visio drawings without adding these (shapes) items to the project? Or perhaps suggest another way I can draw up electrical plans for the electrician working on the project (who is supplying all the equipment and labour).

I'm really just trying to document our electrical requirements for our AV installation, like location and number of power outlets super imposed over the clients floor plan.

Cheers
Glenn

Can't do it unfortunately. D-Tools believes that's naughty and they don't allow it . As a result you'll need to use non-Dtools shapes, or learn to modify D-Tools shapes so they don't force you to add an item.

I feel for you, it's particularly frustrating when you need to do something as simple as draw some lights on a plan, or add a phone jack to show something that is existing, and D-Tools wants to force you to add 10 lights and a phone to your proposal.

Its not a problem for LINE drawings. Plan drawings may be another story (I've never tried to add non-proposed shapes in a plan drawing).

Surely this is something that is a common requirement for detailed projects.

How are people currently providing electrical requirements / locations to their electricians?
