I have a project I did, with schematics, shapes and background title. I really don't want to have to go through all the edits and changes on one of the default templates. Is there a way to turn the project into a template? I tried a couple of things it seems to want to point to a D-tools project.
1. On your Visio drawing make sure there are no D-Tools shapes. D-Tools shapes are shapes with property prop.Category or prop.ShadowID (these are custom properties you see in the Shape Sheet of the shape).
2. Copy the Visio drawing to the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\D-Tools\SI5\Templates" folder. Change the extension from vsd to vst.
3. Create a new Visio drawing for a project and this new template will appear in the list.
Actually did fairly well. I get an error where it says the .dtl for the old project doesn't exist and if I would like to associate it with a different project. Which worked.
