Default Assigning Connection Points

Hello,

I may be asking too much but does anyone know if it is possible to achieve the following;

Let say you have a 12 channel relay which is located in the Lighting HE, on the Schematic page there is a connection point for each of the relays. Is there a way that you can assign one of the connection points eg; Channel 6 to Master Bedroom and Channel 3 to Deck.

The reason I ask is that I am trying to find the best way to individual lighting channels or circuits - so that everything that relays to that particular Relay Channel can be reported on - for example the lights in the master bedroom or the lights on the deck.

I hope this made some sense as my brain has stopped working for the day !

cheers,
Simon

If I understand you are trying to associate the channel on the relay to a room not to a product within a room?

I think that sounds about right, I am still playing around with the idea. At this stage I have created zones for each of the lighting channels and have been assigning both the wiring and lighting products to these zones.

The idea being that I can see exactly what is going to be wired for each circuit and to check that the total load for each circuit is within parameters. As a customer has requested his place to be wired in a certain way.

I will continue to think about whether it is going to be worthwhile.

Simon, I understand exactly what you are trying to do and why but it's very unusual that you would be trying to do this in D-Tools. Normally you would be inputting this type of information into your lighting programming software such as Crestron, Lutron Vantage etc., all of which create all types of reports and schematics for this. And you would show in D-Tools the load number (or component ID) of the lights on the floorplan view, which you would make match the one in the lighting software (or visa versa). But perhaps you are not using a lighting control system here?

Simon is in Australia and if I am correct lighting systems are a bit different from what we have in the US

Simon -

My best suggestion would be to create a dummy product called Lighting Headend and then create the Inputs or Outputs (depending on what you need) and label them as the Room Names. Place the dummy product in the room that the lighting relay panel is located and then you can make your connections.

Hopefully that makes sense, if not let me know and I will try to explain in more detail.
