Angry Problem with Visio Copy

I have a main visio drawing that has taken a few days of work to set up. I have found out that I need to make some pretty big changes to the bid, so I make a copy of the visio drawing in order to make some changes without affecting the original. They consist of breaking some connections, removing some product and re-positioning some inputs and outputs on some components in Schematic pages. To my shock when I did these changes to my copy it affected the connections of the original mostly it appears any of the input/output moves I made in the copy carried over to the original even though I saved changes but not to the master table. Does anyone have any help for this issue cause I have now royally screwed up my original. I also figured out that any component I removed in the copy broke all connections in the original.

Hi Josh,

I'm still getting back up to speed on SI5, but it seems to me that the Visio drawing is sort of a window into the database behind your whole project. So changes made to the drawing would change data in the database. I wonder if there's any way to "roll back" to a previous state?

Again, I'm the Visio Guy, not the SI Guy (...yet), so I'm not 100% sure about all of this.

Did you make a copy of the Visio drawing or the D-Tools SI5 project?

Sounds like a copy of the drawing was made. If that is the case, it would've affected the original. Especially if it was referencing the database, as it is shared among drawings.

My preference is to make a copy of the D-tools file itself. You may need to develop some sort of naming scheme for your projects to help in this effort. For example- Filename_vx, Filename_Rx, Filename_x. Where x is the copy number and always keeping in mind that the original has the lowest number, whether you start at 0 or 1.
