Default Problem with Show "Head-End" Dialog for wires

I made sure the box is checked ( Show "Head End" Dialog for wires in Project ) under the the "Application Project Settings" page. The Phase name is "Pre-Wire/Rough-In" and the wire is also selected for the same thing, and the dialog still does not show up.

Thanks

Eddie

If and when it starts to work, when the box displays, and ask for type of connector and I select the type of connector, where does this show up in the reports or drawing, and can I assign a connector in my data base to it?

Thanks

There is an override to the head-end prompt in the project that prevents it from appearing.

Go to D-Tools>Options>General and expect to find the check box for 'show head-end dialog' empty.

Check it and you'll be rolling.

As for the connector info, I heard once upon a time that this function keeps tabs on the total number and type of connectors you are going to be connecting to on equpiment.

This way you could get an idea of how many of each connector type you might need.

I have never seen where this actually reports.

We do not use this since it does not actually include connectors and their cost in your project.

Use of connectors in your database and consistent accessorization in your database will give you the actual connector counts and costs, a better way!

The "Wire terminal start" and "Wire terminal end" on the Head End form will update the I/O fields for the wire. The attached image shows a Cat5 where I assigned the start and end to be RJ45. No Label or Signal fills in, but "RJ45" displays as the terminal (see screenshot).

These assignments do not mean anything to our stock reports. Our reports do not look at the I/Os assigned to wires, they look at the I/Os of the devices to which the wires are attached. For example, I connected the wire mentioned above between two devices with terminals that are different than the RJ45 assigned to the wire: an RCA and a SPK (see screenshot).

When I run the Wire Termination report, the terminals that list are those of the two devices, not of the wire (see screenshot).

Pehaps the fields could be used on a custom report if needed.

Ok. I look at the screen shoots and your explanation, now I understand. Thank you for spending the time for making it clear for me.

Thanks
