Default Printing to PDF from Visio

I cannot seem to make a 24x36 page print to a PDF of the same size. I am using Foxit and get 136 pages! I have selected everything I can find in the page setup and printer options to go to a 24 x 36 page size but cannot make it work. Any help would be appreciated.

I use Acrobat Distiller and this is what I have to do. It may be similar in the program you're using so this might get you on the right track.

1. in Visio go to File Page Setup. On the Print Setup page I set my page size = 'Postscript Custom Page Size' basically add a custom page size since I'm not directly hooked up to our plotter. (Look at the preview on the right it should match up.)
2. I set the custom page size to 24x36
3. Now when I print I select Acrobat Distiller as my printer and verify under Print Properties that I'm printing to page size = Postscript custom page size.
4. Print - voila prints pdf to 24x36.

If you have Visio 2007, just install the PDF and XMS addon and you export directly to PDF. This addon apply for all Office 2007 products and its free.

Christian nice tip!

Why is it that when you get so used to your same old lengthy processes you stop looking for a better solution! hahaha - this looks much easier

The same reason why we always start searching for the most complicated errors when installed equippment stops working, just to find out after two and a half hours that the AC-lead is unplugged....

Well, it works and its nice that it does all the pages at once. Now to just get it printed out and see how it really looks.

Thank you Christian. Ryan and I both learned something!

i've tried the add-on from ms and had intermittant results
sometimes it prints perfectly other times is displays

“this file is open in another instance of visio or in another program”

without it actually being open – I’m sure of it

i've searched for the error above with no luck so i'm guessing its rare or easy to fix - user error - perhaps a setting.

anyone seen this before ?

Thx
Mitchel

The only problem I get is that on some pages it is missing the background page. But overall it has worked every time I have tried and prints out better than I thought it would.
