Nice post!
Caution : This is very similar to how we used to do our line drawings. Unless you have an unlimited schedule to build each device and manipulate lines, I say stick with simple i/os. Before you realize it, you have spent 6 - 8 hours for just drawing your components, before you even connect your first line. I DO suggest using something like this for a presentation piece for a setup that you would use most often.
