Question DWG Import Problems (For Non-CAD users)

Anyone else have problems importing DWG CAD drawings from Chief Mfg website into Visio drawings?

You should try turning the CAD file into a PDF, and importing it that way. Also, have you sent the DWG through the "cleaning" process?

I have not tried turning the CAD file into a PDF. From my experience, importing a PDF does not allow me to import only 1 object within the PDF. If you have additional info, I'm all eyes.

Most of the time, what I want to do is import 1 perspective of Chief's CAD drawings for an item. There are usually 3 or more perspectives in a DWG file. Cropping it is the only way I know how to come close to what I want, but that doesn't provide me a solution.

Thanks,

Do you have the full version of AutoCAD? If not, then you may be hard pressed as to solutions... It is my experience that if you don't have the ability to properly "clean" the ACAD file with a full version, then it won't import the way that you want it to.

I don't have full ACAD, but any other DWG file imports wonderfully. That's why I'm at a loss.
