Default Visio Title Block

Clicked on title block in visio section brought me here, hope this is right. Anyyyyyways, I want to add three fields to my title block in visio. In the reports, they show up as: dtr:Name, dtr:ProjectNumber, and dtr:ProjectStaff2. I would like them to auto populate into my title block for each project. Can you point me into place I can do this?

Thanks

To see the fields available for use in your title block (not all database fields are populated into Visio for consumption in the template):

Step 1: Open your project in Visio
Step 2: From the View Menu select – “Drawing Explorer Window”
Step 3: Right Click on the Visio icon at the top of the Drawing Explorer with the directory path of your file displayed next to it.
Step 4: Select “Show ShapeSheet” (if this isn't available make sure you're running in developer mode Tools-->Options-->Advanced)
Step 5: This opens the ShapeSheet for the project and shows you the fields (properties) for the project.

To insert a field into the template, make sure you've got the template open for editing first. Type some text into the frame, select it, right click and choose 'Insert Field'. This brings up a dialog box with various options (check them out some are page properties, etc...can be useful)

Choose 'Custom Formula'
Enter TheDoc!Prop.xxxx
Click OK
Your property will now be inserted from your project

example: TheDoc!Prop.ProjectNumber - will return the project's number.

If you are doing this from inside a project it's easier to know you're successful because the data populates from the project immediately. If you're doing it from the stencil editor you'll need to test your title block in a project to make sure data populates into it.

If this all sounds like a foreign language to you check the Help menu from inside D-Tools and search for Visio Template - that will provide you a little background on editing title frames.
