Developing accurate wire pull lists could be done automatically if the most detail Location was “Install Location”. This could be added to the Location hierarchy (Campus:Building:Floor:Room:Closet). We have implemented this in our company by making the “Closet” the Install Location.

We do not show this level on the sales reports, but it does show on installation and wiring reports. It works as follows:

Install Location is defined as any place that will have wires running to or from it (Projector Location, Screen Location, Ceiling, Rack 1, Rack 2, Mixing Console, Stage etc.)

Since each piece of equipment already knows where it is located, it is straightforward to calculate the wire pull lists without having to identify a headend. We created an “Install Location” to “Install Location” wire pull list report for this purpose.

It would be great to have that as part of the standard D-Tools product.

I would be interested in learning more about your install location to install location report - is that something that could be shared? This is one of the things I keep thinking it would be nice to see, instead of "head ends" when sometimes there isn't really a "head end" in the project.
