Default Generic product null item

In the next product release I would like to request D-tools provide a generic product null shape that can be added to a project that does not show up in as a line item. Simply a shape that can be added to a drawing that can have I/O's added and a component ID assigned. Also one for wire and cable products.

I often require a shape of this sorts for say, transmitter/receiver set that have a single part number, or adding an included cable in an item.

What are other peoples thought on this?

Even though the Tx and Rx is sold as a pair, they always have separate serial no's. I usually create a separate product for the Tx and Rx, then create a package if they are sold in pairs. As we use Kramer or Extron most of the time, all those products are also sold separately and sometimes you just need one Tx but 2 or 3 Rx (i.e. when moving a lectern between different floor boxes). For the issue on included cables I totally agree.

I see what you are saying, but take for example a wireless microphone system. one part number would encompass the following items:

microphone, receiver, 2 antennas, 2 RF cables, and power supply. We work on a lot of projects where it is necessary to break them all out and account for each piece with a label and i/o. This is a small item but creating a package for every manufacturer and item would be really time consuming and you still have products that would show up on your parts list that were unnecessary.

Good point. I've often put all labor on the receiver then added the other items and marked them as OFE. But a solution with null items would be great. Even greater if that was standard products in the master database but could be marked as null items when added as an accessory. Then you have the oportunity to treat them as single items or as a complete set.
