Default Ease of entry/navigation

Just a couple of requests:

When on the project data matrix: I like to assign the rooms from the matrix. However, if I have two rooms starting with the same letter (Master Bedroom, and Mechanical Room for example), and I go to the zone column for the item and click "M" it assumes I want the first "M" item and assigns the item to it. It should go to the first "M" location in the drop down area and then WAIT! I should then be able to cycle through all of my "M" rooms by hitting "M" again or by letting me type "MA" and taking me to the "MA" locations. Then I can select the room I want. D-Tools 3.6 worked this way and was very helpful. The current 5.5 way is a little cumbersome.

When entering product from either the Product Data Matrix or Product Explorer: I should be able to search for the manufacturer by typing in more than just the first letter. If I type "INT" for Integra (for example), it takes me to "Toshiba" (in my database) instead of "Integra". The current 5.5 way is a little cumbersome. I believe once the manufacturer has been selected it WILL allow me to type in a few letters when selecting the model number, so this shouldn't be too hard to do with the manufacturers (or at least so I imagine - I am not a programmer).

Thanks for listening - any feedback or hints for me would be appreciated.

This was a feature that has been in every realease in D-Tools. Mush faster and more efficient when i had this feature available. Don't know why it was removed in 5.0, but I definately would like to see it brought back....

Hi,

You can narrow your search to search on only "Manufacturer". If you right click the search text box for either PDM or Product Explorer you will get a list of searchable and by default "All" is checked which means all searchable fields are searched. In your case the "INT" may be part of a product in the Model or Description. So if you narrow your search field to only Manufacturer it should work great.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

My bigger issue is with the room name selection (the first part of my initial post). Any help on that?

OK - Your suggestion worked great in the product explorer.

But when I click on "Add Product" in the PDM the list of manufactureres STILL only recognizes the first letter.

I typed in "MID" for Middle Atlantic and was taken straight to "Da-Lite".

If anyone out there uses a newer Mac running OS X you know how good the search capability is. You type and almost immediately items populate a list based on what you type. It works extremely well and is very fast if not totally perfect. Typing MID and seeing results for Da-Lite is not good...
