Default advanced PDM search

It would be beneficial to search against all fields in the PDM.

Currently, it seems like the search query is run against a predefined set of fields (Manufacturer, Model, Description perhaps?)....very very useful. I would, however, like to be able to search against other fields (e.g. custom properties)...although I'm at a bit of a loss about a good way to implement this. Here's a couple ideas:

1 - provide a user option that allows modification of fields included in the search (probably an efficiency nightmare waiting to happen)

2 - provide search on column. I envision this acting like the Filter Icon on the main project grid: each column header in the PDM has a small search icon. When clicking on the icon a text field drops allowing the user to enter a search query against that column.

Agreed and the search all fields. I have been desiring the ability to search for a specific component ID for a while now. We are constantly working on projects that with 20+ rooms or thousands of parts and having that feature would be great!

The PDM Free form search currently searches on Manufacturer, Category, Model, Type, Description, Phase, Location and Zone.
The default is to seach on all fields.
If you right click the search text box you can select which fields you want to search on.

The option to search on all fields is added as a request.

That looks really cool, but what does it mean when no text appears as I type?

When you say - "no text appears as you type" - does that mean no text appears in the PDM Free form search text box as you type. I am not able to replicate that.

I am able to see text in my PDM Free Form Search. See above.

Anyone else having this problem?
