Default Reload Tools Add-ins

I would like to request re-load or repair D-tools add-on's to Visio added. Many Visio drawings get corrupted one way or another and there is no longer a right-click D-Tools Menu. Opening up another drawing that it does work first then opening the trouble project enables it but that is real silly and I am always worrying I might corrupt the one that is working.

Suggestion: Top D-Tools Menu -> Utilities -> Repair D-Tools Add-in's

Can anyone else comment on the regularity of corruption in your Visio files?
Which version of Visio are you running?
I had a lot of trouble in Visio 2003 but 2007 (the one that comes with D-Tools) is running well for me.

Visio 2007 that came with D-Tools, Windows 7 32-bit.

I would say 1 in 10 corrupts one way or another. Either all the D-Tools functionality goes away, just the right click goes away, or randomly it will mark the Visio file as "read only" causing me to save under a different filename.

OK. I guess I do see the "read only" issue from time to time but other corruption is pretty rare. Have you tried running a repair on the Visio installation? Probably worth trying.

I have tried everything, re-load, repair, etc. To be honest I am suspecting it has something to do with others opening the file on a different machines, but I have not been able to duplicate it as of yet.

We had tons of issues with Visio 2010, at least every other file became corrupt and could not be saved. Save as would not work. This was not the beta version it was the actual release of Visio 2010. Switched back to 2007 and have had no issues

have you attempted to determine if there is a pattern to the corruption problem?
Is it the same sequence of steps?
Are you using any VPN scenarios?
Do some of the other users have different versions of Windows, Visio, Service Packs, or patches?
Is it possible that there is something buggy in a custom Visio template or stencil?

Do you get any error reports? If so, you should be sending the contents to D-Tools.

I have been trying to find a pattern but so far have been unsuccessful and I cannot duplicate it as of yet which is frustrating.

We are all using the same D-Tools version and same Visio version.

I am the only on on the VPN for when I get sick but so far only one project that was edited via VPN has been affected.

We have (4) Windows XP users, (1) windows 7 user, (1) windows vista user. Might be adding to the problem.

It doesn't generate an error message of any kind, you check out the file and begin working then realize that when you right click on a product, the D-Tools menu is missing even if the top D-tools menu is present.

Hi,

This might happen if your drawing was loading a Visio Add In which cleared custom Visio shortcut menus on the drawing (some add-ins do this). Did you or anyone else enable a particular add-in for these drawings?
