Expanded "Selected Project Files" Area - D-Tools Forum

I would like to see in the next version a more expanded area to manage project files. We currently only have the ability to add files but they are not sorted or organized and any more than a few files just gets clumsy. I would like to suggest that the area for project details helps manage the files associated with the project. Site photos, CAD drawings, correspondences, with notes and date fields. Tabbed with a preview pane and storing all of the files in a centralized area on the server.

On any given project there are 3-4 people working on a project and having the ability to manage these items within D-tools would be huge. We currently rely on each person to maintain the same naming conventions, folder names, and file locations, and I would like to take the human element out of the organization equation.

To expand on the topic some more, after generating a report to send to the client, if we could send the report directly from D-tools and have D-tools keep track of when that report was generated and sent on another tab, then everyone has access to the report sent to the client and can refer to it.

Good idea - it would be nice to be able to keep all of this in D-Tools, however then you would need to access D-Tools to access the other project files. We use a Sharepoint server to store and maintain all items associated with a project. This works really grate since it maintains version control and allows you to check out files.

Interesting, I have not had much experience with Sharepoint I will have to look into that.

It is really a useful tool - once you start working with Sharepoint you come up with so many other ways to use it in your business.
