Default Service agreement features module

As many of us sells a service agreement with an installation, I really could use a module that handles this on a detailed basis.

This includes:
- Service Agreement proposal that gets its data from the sales contract (or proposal)
- An extra set of Custom Properties for products (or product groups). For a projector this would be; install date, lamp change date (1,2,3,4), filter clean date (1,2,3,4), filter change date (1,2,3,4), lamp hrs, maintenance dates (1,2,3,4), unit on service date (1,2), comments from service, comments from maintenance...All these could be hidden behind a "service info" button on the Component properties and the data is linked to the component ID.
- Start date and duration of service agreement
- Agreed No. of maintenance visits each year
- Phone support (register time of each call and comments)
- Agreed rates for service hours, overtime, short notice service
- reporting (check list for service, report to customer after service visit, changed configurations)

I believe there are lots of other data that would be useful to register within such module, but this is a humble start. Hopefully other D-toolians see the need and use for such module and add even more to my list. The service module could also be linked to Scheduling to plan all visits to the client with mailback to client and serviceperson.

It would be nice to collect the data from the proposal and do a percentage of the proposal. Perhaps a check box next to each item to specify if it is included in the service plan.

We base ours on the job size and take a percentage and make a new total.

Since I think this would be quite a departure for D-Tools and not something you are likely to see any time soon I'd recommend those interested in this take a look at supplementary products meant to support this type of functionality. One of them that does this (and much much more, it will pretty much help you run your entire business) is Tigerpaw, you can create any type of service contract, tie equipment to it with automatic billing and reminders and so on. It also links with D-Tools. They are also releasing V11 soon which I have seen in action and is pretty incredible, MASSIVE UI improvements.
