Default Package Shape

I'd like to know what other users think about this.

I would like for a shape to be able to represent a package, or for that matter perhaps an item and accessories. This shape would not eliminate the individual shapes associated with each sku, rather it would be an additional/optional way of representing them. As an example, it would be really nice to be able to click on a TV icon on the floorplan (or hover over it) and see that it represents products A, B and C. Or another might be bundled cable. One shape on the drawing, but clicking on it you can see that it contains 4 cables with separate component ID's.

I don't think this is a far out request, i am pretty sure this is how advanced BIM products from AutoCAD work, where a shape on the drawing might represent several different materials. I'm going to guess we won't see this in v_5.x, but I sure would like to see it in 6.

Interesting concept - I think the idea would be neat to have as a feature, but it seems as if it might take a bit of work to get that implimented. I guess I would say it would be a nice feature to have, but not necessary.

BIM is all the rage with architects, and now AMX, Chief, and others are starting to offer BIM files for their products. I think that the more we are in-step with the design community the more that we will be looked on as real design partners. We were talking to a building materials rep and all of those manufacturers are scrambling to get their products catalogs into this format. I wouldn't be surprised if we are all using Revit in a few years.
