Default Add provisions for Optinal or Upgraded equipment

This is a huge drawback in d-tools, not being able to offer upgrades that do not effect the price. It seems to me that it could easily be implimented in one of several ways. I can not imagin that everyone would not be in agreement with me on this.

I do not see this as being a drawback - optional items can be presented to the client when you are reviewing the project with them.

The only place where this is truely an issue is if you are not presenting your proposal in person and instead you are emailing;faxing or mailing the proposal. If this is your method of delivering a proposal you are doing yourself a great disjustice. If you are not there to review a proposal with the client then they are just going to make a decision based solely on price. The only time I would consider emailing a proposal is if I was on the phone with the client, then would email (while still on the phone) and then review each item with them - and at that time offer any available options.

you can also facilitate options and upgrades by placing them in different zones.
when you run reports, filter these option/upgrade zones in and out as needed. You will need to take some care for what filters were run with a report because there is not a way to save the filter configuration that the report was run with...which i think is a non-trivial drawback

If you really want to include options in your proposals, this is really the best way to do it.
