Default Add Stencil to Visio without Adding product to Project.

Seems like a simple request for functionality that used to be in D-tools.

There is a way to do this if you know how to edit Visio stencils.

A shape is considered to be a D-Tools shape if it has either a prop.Category or prop.ComponentID in it(s) shape sheet.

To make a shape a non D-Tools shape --

1. Edit a Visio Stencil and copy the master shape you want to make "non D-Tools".
2. In the copied master shape open the shape sheet.
3. Rename prop.ComponentID to prop.ComponentID1 and prop.Category to prop.Category1.
4. Close and save master shape and save stencil.
5. Drop the new master shape to a D-Tools drawing and you will get no prompt to add a product.

Hi,

Creating Visio Stencils and Shapes requries Visio skills. This page is from MSDN
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...ffice.10).aspx

Once you create your shapes you can add the custom properties - prop.Category or prop.ComponentID (or both) to your custom shapes. When you drop these custom shapes to D-Tools drawings you will be prompted to a link to a product in your catalog (MMPD).
The stencils should be placed where all D-Tools stencils are placed - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\D-Tools\SI5\Visualizations\Stencils (for WinXP) or C:\ProgramData\D-Tools\SI5\Visualizations\Stencils (for Vista or Win7).
