Default update height for rack mount units

it would be nice if you mark an equipment item as rack mounted the number of RU updates the item height instead of just locking it out

Good point. We have included this issue in a list of suggestions that we sent to D-tools after Infocomm.

By design, changing the Rack Units field does not update the Height field. The Height field is what is used when scaling shapes on an Elevation style page, not the Rack Units field. When you mark a product as "Rack Mounted", the value in the height field is divided by 1.75 and then rounded up if not a whole number. As you know, not all pieces of equipment are exactly x amount of rack units tall so adjusting the Height field based on the Rack Units field would be innacurate.

I disagree. If the unit is "Rack Mounted" I see that as units with rack mount brackets mounted to the unit. An off-the-shelf blu-ray player can be rackmounted when using a rackshelf. but I don't consider that unit as a rack mountable by its own.

During the 15 years of pro AV and audio, I have never seen a rack mountable unit that doesn't apply to the rack mount standards of 1U, 2U, 3U and so on.
