Default PDM user presets

it would be cool to have a few presets that could be set for Column and Grouping settings in the PDM. Instead of requiring the user to open Columns and Grouping every time they want to change views, the user would be able to assign a particular Columns and Grouping setup to a user defined preset and quickly recall those presets in the PDM.

Yep - this would be very cool, useful and efficient!

Different scenarios like:

Proposal
Design
Analysis

would be very helpful to have just a click away.

Yes, this is needed throughout D-Tools, ESPECIALLY for the PDM, it would save users COUNTLESS hours. This should be at the top of the included features in the next service release. Are you listening Naresh ?!

David we are listening

This is a great idea. Added as a feature request .. not sure it will make the cut for this service pack. Will keep you'll posted.

Naresh, let me explain from a user perspective why this is sooo huge, not that you don't already get it. On the average project I have hundreds of products in the data matrix. Sorting through that to find what I want is very time consuming, that would be at ot near the very top of things that consumer time in D-Tools that don't have too. Of course that is what filters/grouping etc. are for, but the problem as they say is that the cure is worse than the disease . I just don't have 30 to 60 seconds to spend clicking through filters and grouping options every time I want to save my view. If I could save as many views as I want, wow, that would be huge. As I said, I'd like to see this ASAP, but if it's going to be later maybe we users can spend some more time coming up with a wish list for how it should operate. One feature I would really like to see for example in addition to saved filters is some type of quick filter just like you showed me for sales and work orders - I should be able to click on any column and quickly filter on it. Thanks as always.

In my opinion it would be ideal to save "PDM presets" at the project level. My reasoning is that the type of views a user might need could vary greatly from project to project. Maybe following a similar paradigm as Phase rates and allow template presets to be made at the application setup level and then let users edit them at the project level.

i would also suggest including the ability to add filters to the "PDM presets".

Grouping, Filters, and even Sorting should all be part of presets. A reasonably long name should also be allowed, and there should be a description field where ~250 characters can be entered. The description field would only be seen when editing the preset.
