We definitely sort rooms by location in the home, not alphanumerically. But SI4.5 did have the ability to sort alphanumerically, and this should be an option still but they took it out.

I perceive dropping simple features like this to be sloppy design. It seems like a have read many threads where other features were just dropped...

Sp2 has the option to sort location and zones alphanumericaly. My apologies for the inconvenience.

In Sp2 if you open the Project Information dialog from Navigator the Location and Zones tab have an option to sort locations and zones.
Note: This option is currently available only from the Navigator interface and not from within the Text interface.
