Default Discount column

It would be great to have a discount column in the project data matrix next to each item so you can show a discount per product if required.

Right now we can only create a total discount at the end which the client can see.

It would also be nice for the report to show the retail price and the discounted price per item

are you already using all three pricing tiers for something else? if not then the MSRP/List value for each product and one of the three price/Cost groups should get you what you need.

Default Discount columns and more

Hi,

we would like to able to give discounts on different manufacturers. eg:

Crestron List minus 12%, Sonance MSRP - 15, Labor -10%. But I want to show the customer the MSRP and his price.

Using the three different pricing possibilities (ABC) is not enough as every project is different and I might get extra project support from the distributor or manufacturer...

I would also need an easy way to deduct a given amount (TAXABLE) from the Total.

We need to show the discount!

regards
Stephen

Thanks stephen and others on this thread! We are looking at a discount field and more flexible pricing methods for a future release of our software, and value all input on this subject.

In the short term, in 5.5, we'll be exposing Base Price, Adjusted Price, and Extended Price for each item for use in custom reports. This will give you the possibility to show the Equipment Adjustment, which is essentially a discount or markup for all items in a certain phase. I realize this is not what you're looking for, but it is an improvement vs. 5.2 and may help in certain bids.

Please keep the input coming.

Best regards,

Default Discounts - when ?

whatever happened to:

"In the short term, in 5.5, we'll be exposing Base Price, Adjusted Price, and Extended Price for each item for use in custom reports."

i can't find these....

We are really in need of this, as we are needing to show discounts all the time and are creating proposals in excel/word in parallel to dtools. in small projects this results in not even using dtools at all !!

If these features are not there very soon, I will have to pull the plug on dtools, as it doubles the work at the moment, and proposals created for the customer always need three to four hours of rework in every instance....

are there imminent plans or solutions?

regards
Stephen

For Proposal items you can find those fields under “… dtr: Project/dtr:ProposalItems/dtr:ProposalItem” path. Drag those fields and drop it in to your custom reports in the corresponding place.

Please look at the below screen shots for those fields -

Hope it helps.

Hi,

The discount can only be applied by phase for complete project.

How to give Discount for each phase in a project?

Open the project in Text, then click D-Tools --> Options menu, it will open “D-Tools SI Project Options” dialog.

In the Phases tab, select a phase and then set the “Override project defaults for this phase” option to true and then give discount (Misc. Parts and Equipment +/-) value.

This phase discount value is not applicable for labor.

FYI -

ExtendedPrice = Equipment Price + (Equipment Price * Misc Parts) + (Equipment Price * Equipment +/-)

AdjustedPrice = Equipment Price + (Equipment Price * Equipment +/-)
