Default Default Head End

Just like you can have a default wire length it would be handy to have a default Head End. If your adding 50 of the same cable with the same Head End, it would be a nice time saving feature.

It would be nice to have a default wire length for each type of cable also.

If you build your rough-wiring into packages, wires can have different default wire lengths and head-ends pre assigned in the package.

This is a great way to capture wiring topologies for specific devices that are wired throughout a system as well as pre define the wire length and head end.

Using the 'Add' package function rather than dragging and dropping packages allows you a opportunity to modify the wire length and head-end on the fly too.

Try-It!

I did not know that but I hear what your saying... sounds good. One concern, how will this impact reporting? Will I end up with lots of little summarised packages in the picklist?

We use D-Tools for our electrical pricing/ordering, do you?

You will be seeing these as summarized packages for sure.

Those packages that are identical in their name and contents will have an aggregate total.

We do not use D-Tools for electrical estimating but have set up databases for electrical contractors using packages for assemblies for recepticles, recessed lighting, etc.

It works well, but is slow on large projects as the total number of electrical devices in a project is exponentially higher that the total number of items on the SI side of the project...makes for a large PDM and extended wait times while the project is being assembled, but in the end its very complete!
