I second that emotion!
The software registers the license regularly, users should be in control of the software we own when D-Tools is dinging the corporate card every month, as well as the data inputted to the database.

Thank you Kevin!!!
I will say, support emailed me back at 8am this morning with the release code (thanks guys) - but I still lost the night to review / make minor changes to the project... so yes, I got to the customer, but I still think we should have control of this - I can NOT see any (and I do mean ANY (!!!!)) reasons as to why we can not have this control to release a license...
D-Tools - program it so that if I forceably remove a license it forces the user to log off - or something - that's fine (give a warning first) - "IF" you're really that paranoid that someone is going to steal this damn thing.

I have the same problem today, Lansync says a user is logged in but they aren't. This is the first software I've seen that requires you to contact a company for a special code just to log a user off. Why?!
I can understand about an activation code but a release code makes no sense whatsoever. I can see if anyone had access to Lansync and you didn't want to loose data accidentally, but anyone with admin access should know what they are doing.

There is a way around it without getting a code. If you have access to the Admin console to see the licenses and who is logged in, then you also have access to the users themselves. If you delete a user and then re-add them to the license, you release the license in another manner. Not sure if it is correct, but it is definitely a way to do this without waiting for a code

Amanda,
You are correct. If you have access to the LANSync Admin Console, you can delete the user that is currently using that license, that will free it up and allow you to assign it to someone else. Pretty much the same way a release code would.
If you send an email to support with the subject "Release code for license #5555" we can usually send you one right back.

<bump>
I'd like to see an answer to Graham's question...
This is a big issue and an artificial one to boot.
It *might* be acceptable if the software were flawless and this was rarely if ever an issue but that's not the case. The software often f*$ks over users at the last minute and having an artificial roadblock which forces users onto d-tools' support staff's schedule is an unfair, illegitimate and artificial restriction that should be removed asap. We work and use the software at all hours including ridiculous ones. Unless you intend to be there at those hours and immediately accessible or can find some way to return to me my lost hours you should get your locks off my paid-for software.
J.

I agree, had this problem today. Why are we being forced to contact support for this? As stated above all we have to do is delete a user and add it again to get past this. So why have this made up reason to contact support and waist more time? It's Stupid!

This feature has been removed in 5.5. You will have the ability to "Log Off" the user from the LANSync Admin Console similar to "Disconnect User" in Si4.
No more release codes, YAY!
