Currently, I have a file system separate from the D-Tools directory setup for client files, which hosts all of my documentation for the project. I PDF all of myt reports into this location. It is accessable for project managers and lead installers to access those reports so I do not have to email them everything everytime they want something. As of right now, when I modify a proposal, I save the revised report into the file as so it is current and accurate for the project. It is time consuming and bothersome to wonder if every project has an update report.
This leads me to my suggestion. I don't know how feasible this is due to the techinical aspect or if it will even make sense, but here it goes. When I revise a project and check it into the server, I would like to see an option to "update report on server?" prompt and have the program automatically produce a PDF to my preselected directory for that particular project. This would ensure that I do not forget to update the report and the techinician team will always have access to the most up-to-date project proposal.
I hope this make sense, I do not expect to see this actually be followed through with because of the technical aspect behind performing the task and the probability that I am one of maybe a select few who are even documenting our projects like this. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
