Default Multiple office locations

Not sure if this is the right area to place this question...

Say there is a design firm that has multiple designers working out of their homes using multiple seats of d-tools (NO centralized office). The start up company is not currently interested in providing installer related reports – just client and managerial reports (and drawings of course).

Anyone have experience using LANSync in applications such as this? Would it make sense to purchase multiple seats of Standard (understanding that LANSync is not included with this), have an FTP site where one person (designated to update the database) up loads the database and templates for others to manually download.

Looking for the easiest and smoothest set up/use possible – not interested in taking days to set up and test or have to call an IT guy to fix any potential problems.

Thanks!

This should work as long as there are clear procedures for maintaining the database. I will pass this on to our dev team for comment. You could use something like BaseCamp to provide central file storage.

From our dev team...
"This sounds like a completely manual process and that's fine if that's all they need. They could use something like Groove or FolderShare and avoid the FTP and IT stuff altogether. They could share a separate folder on their machines (NOT the D-Tools data folder but another folder they create) and put files in there to share with others. "

Try Hamachi. I'm using it now and it works flawlessly. I can access my lanSync from home, office, laptop via Sprint card, etc...
