It is because of the layout of the forums and the placement and wording of the suggestions forum. Change the name to feature requests, make it the first forum, acknowledge each request, and substantially reduce the number of forums and make their categorization make sense, and you'll have more feature requests than you know what to do with. Not to mention more people who want to participate.

Like to add some suggestions about the new version, but is waiting for 5.1 to install it. Make my livelyhood using the program and 5.0 seems to have little to many bugs to install it now. Woulden't be suprised if alot of people are doing the same thing. Don't think alot of people in this business have extra time to play around with a software that is not ready for primetime.

When is 5.1 going to be out? Do you have a real firm date other then "soon"?

Great software!!

PS. One suggestion. Having it's own multi page installation manual just to install it right is a little scary. Kept me from installing on my laptop.

A lot of the current bugs will be addressed in an upcoming service pack release. Additional functionality will be added for V5.1. No date on that as of yet.

Well the install is not as scary as the manual may imply if you pick the defaults. There are a lot of options and the manual is also an Administrators Guide. We started to break them into two parts. Maybe we should have.

Any approx date for the upcoming service pack release?

BTW Here is a software suggestion. One of the most time consuming things I found is to assign components to specific rooms. I usally just place one component each on the floor plans and then copy it as needed. Problem is when you run a report and want to run it by location it does not work for obious reasons, and re assigning the components become pretty confusing, specially when you are dealing with multiple stories houses.
Spoke to Blake about it at Cedia/Las Vegas, and apperently at one point there was a way to draw a rectangle that you named for each room and any component you placed inside become automatically assigned to that room.

Is that feature something that might be brought back to the program?
Would be a great time saver!

Jose and I are working on a new structure. You will see it starting to take shape at the bottom on the main forum page ("New Forum Layout"). We are currently trying to come up with a plan to remap all the existing threads to new layout.

To accommodate your request will need to combine both V4 and V5 posts in the same thread. I like this idea, but we are concerned that the first response to a post will be "Which Version?". Jose plans to add some additional Post Icons so users can identify if the post is for SI 4 or 5. The default assumption will be V5. We will see if this works.

I agree as well, WAY to many forums, stuff is just hard to find.

As someone that spends a good part of his day managing a forum, this should take all of 10 minutes to do.

That would be true except for the "Tips and Tricks" that covers a wide variety of topics that must be sorted. It will not take long once we get feedback from all the stakeholders. Within that 10min we also must devise a way to distinguish V4 from V5 users in the collapsed version. Any suggestions?
