* Choose to include a Location Summary at the end of the proposal (or not)
* Choose to include a Zone Summary at the end of the proposal (or not)
* Choose to include the Contract report with the proposal (or not)
* Choose from 2 Project Summary pages (List Price or Installed Price version)
* Choose to use product or client description

Optimized Visio Wire Shapes
The MED Optimized Wire Shapes are designed to allow for wire formatting to occur automatically and remove the need for users to manually format the colors and line styles for their wires in Visio drawings. The wire shapes include 42 distinct line styles (14 colors and 3 line styles) each of which can be assigned to a D-Tools ‘Type’ field for wires in your database. This allows for automatic formatting and streamlined wiring documentation! No more manual wire formatting! The wire shapes are completely user customizable and include a training video.

Very nice Ryan. I watched the video, what about changing line thickness? I generally prefer 5 or 9 to the D-Tools default which I think is 1 or 3.

Hey David,

I can add a parameter control to set the Line Weight - it will allow the user to enter a number 4, 6, 10... and all lines in the report will change. Page Footer Lines, Page Header Lines, Group Subtotal Lines...basically all the lines will change to become = whatever number the user plugs in there.

Great idea - thank you!

Hi Ryan,

You are probably just talking about it at a more advanced level than I am, but due to your use of the term "reports" and "group subtotal lines" etc. I want to clarify that we are talking about the same thing. I am just referring to changing the line weight of the wires on the page. Are we talking about the same thing?

Default Wire Line Weights

Oh oops! hahah. I thought you meant the line weights of the lines in the optimized proposal report.

The line weight for the wire shapes can be changed at the shape level - so that it will always be a greater thickness. Just a matter of selecting the line weight option in the shape sheet and making it a larger thickness. I have the weights set on these by default at a 5.

As a tip - (you probably already know this) but for others sake I'll throw it out there.

If you have completed a wiring design and want to make all of the wires a different thickness do the following to make your life much easier:

1. Visio Edit Menu -->Select by Type
2. Select by Layer
3. Select Wire and Cable (or whatever category your wires are in your database)
4. Click OK
5. All wires will be selected on the page
6. Change the formatting of the line weight (with wires still selected)

Now all your wires have been updated at once!

Ryan -

The Optimized Visio Wire Shapes are very cool. That is going to be a huge time saver us - $99 to save countless hours changing wire colors.
