Default SP3 upgrade without a server upgrade?

My start menu under D-Tools does not have a separate Check for Server update icon, and there is no app for it in the D-Tools program folder, so I just checked for updates.

I got an update application that does not appear to have a separate update for the server, which is local. The title of the dialog is "System Integrator 5.5 (Client and Server) Setup", but it doesn't say anything specifically about updating the server first and since there are warnings all over about upgrading the server first, I'm scared to run it.

I would like to hear from someone who had this kind of update situation and how it went.

Thanks,

Arnie

Arnie, is your server installation on the same machine as your client? In my experience when the 'Check for Server Updates' doesn't show up it's because the server resides on a different machine. However if your server is in fact installed on the same machine as the client and you dont see this there could be another issue.

When you go to All Programs -->D-Tools --> is there a separate program listed there called 'Si 5 Server Administration'?

Arnie,

You have what we call a "Express" Install - which is a single install which combines both client and server. The Check for Udpates in this install will update both client and server components.

Ryan,
There is not a separate program. The server is on the same box as the client.

NareshN,
So I can run this and the install is smart enough to find the server and upgrade it first?

Thanks to both of you for your swift replies.

Arnie,

Yes it will upgrade both server and client correctly. The Express install is designed to update both at same time.

OK, I'll do it. But I'll be holding my breath.

Thanks!

PS. I sent this question to Support BEFORE I posted it here and I still have not received a reply from them, but have had two people reply here. I can see where I will need to go with questions from now on.

Odd. Sorry you were not responded to. We never received any message or online case from you.

SenoS,

Odd. Is your support address still support@D-Tools.com?

Sure is. The capital letters shouldn't make a difference but D-Tools Support can be reached via support@d-tools.com or the preferred online case method.

Has anyone else had trouble receiving a response when emailing Support directly vs. the online case creation?

Well, no harm, no foul, I guess. I found out what I wanted to know. I'll try to remember the "online case" next time.

Thanks.
