I figure you had, but just had to ask. No, I haven't forgotten how long you have been using D-Tools

Here is the deal guys. Some users run into an issue where two (or possibly more) projects cantain the same GUID and when the server is updating it recognizes this which causes some sort of hiccup in the process. The GUID is used by the portion of the software that builds and manages the list of projects. Apparently this has been solved for some users already.

Is it possible that this will happen to you? Yep. Is it more likely to not happen to you? Yep. Should you backup all your data before embarking on this journey? Yep. Might it be wise to use your backup software to simply make a backup of your server system before the update so you can restore it to 5.5.177 after it breaks? Yep.

Seth just popped in and set a new GUID in SQL on my server for one project that was causing the problem. As soon as this was done everything came back to life.

Thanks guys!

I also just finished transferring about 670MB of all my data via ftp for them to geek out on and figure out how the project GUID got fouled up in the first place. I hope this will help write a patch that looks for this glitch and addresses it during the update.

Good news is that it shouldn't require much time to figure out for other folks who run into this now that the problem is known.

Glad that issue was resolved. Thanks to Senos for fixing and for the SV guys for their patience.

I have extremely selfish motivations for updating; I love AutoCAD 2010 and want to start using it to create my grand scheme for documenting projects in D-Tools. By the end of 2009 I will be 100% in AutoCAD ().

The first implementation of D-Tools and AutoCAD was terrible. What was that, 5.1 or maybe 4.6? Anyway, it feels good to me now so I am diving in and taking no prisoners. Hopefully the last 18 years of CAD will payoff...
