Whole new installation & migration - D-Tools Forum

Hi - we purchased a new server and we have installed 5.5 on it. We currently have SI4 on another server and we want to migrate all the data over from SI4 to SI5, and keep all the settings the same. Is this possible??

Yes, it is possible to do this. In System Integrator SI5.5, click on Manage Data, now click on Open Manage My Product Data.

In the new MMPD window click on the Adminstration tab, now click on the DATABASE tab. At the bottom you will see "Local Database File to Convert." Click the browse button and select the MasterTable.mdb file and click Convert (if you have SI4 installed on the same PC it should automatically open to the default location/root folder of SI4).

Make sure that the following files are present before converting the Database.

MasterTable.mdb
MasterTableEquipmentLogos.mdb
MasterTableImages.mdb

There is no way to migrate reports from Si4 to SI5. You do have the option to run what they now call Legacy Reports from Si5.5 which essentially just runs your Si4 reports.

Be sure to leave Si4 installed in order to have access to Legacy Reports.

To access Legacy Reports simply open your project in Text or Visio. From the menu click the D-Tools > Reports > and on the new window click on File > Legacy Reports

You should now be able to run any report from SI4 on an SI5 Proposal.
