Default Customizing your own Word Reports

Word Reports were introduced with D-Tools SI 4 as an addition to the Crystal Reports capability that had been part of SI since the earliest releases.

To run a Word report you need to have Office 2003 installed. To modify the Word Report Templates you must have Office 2003 Professional or the "Stand alone" version of Word 2003 installed.

The D-Tools SI Word Reports in SI 4 are only available for Client reports (Contract, Cover Page, Line Item Reports, etc.). Word Reports are not available for Management or Install reports. You should use Crystal Reports for these.

In addition to the Word Software requirements Bob listed above, you also have to have a Pro Version of D-Tools. The Basic version our sales people use don't support the Word Reporting function. Which was pretty much the thing that stopped us cold on implementing word reports.

Default XML Name Index

Does anyone have a Name Index List for Word XML Reports?

It would be nice to have the complete list of XML Names.

A big part of V5 is XML export. Contact reedp@d-tools.com and he can help you out until then.

Default XML Word Reports

That all very good info - Many Thanks.

The one thing I am still needing is a list of field names available. CR has all the fields in SI4, XML has a limited list.

I think that all fields export with the exception of IO's. From the data tab, run the "Open CSV" link. An Excel CSV file will be created with all available fields.
Additional fields from the Business manager will also be included with V5 but i don't really have a way to tell you how to view those now.

There is a way inside DTools to replace the standard cover page and standard contract with your customize cover page and contract for the combined word report?

The Word Reports in SI 4 generate directly in Word and are based on XML. The templates for these reports can be modified in Word. The Export to Word function takes a report generated in Crystal Reports and converts the report to a Word doc.
