How can I change the order in which an item is in a room? For example - if I have a mount and a TV (yes I know - make the mount a sub item of the TV - forget that for just this example). How can I make the TV appear before the mount if it was added last? So I want to change the order? I've tried a few things but can't figure this out... I guess because we use Rooms and Zones - it's not as big a concern - but there have been a few times I've wanted to change the order and couldn't.

how about creating a custom report that sorts on custom property #1 set to ascending.
Then in the items where sort order is important you can add a value from 1 to 10 or something. 1 being the first item, 10 being the last.
I haven't performed extensive testing other than this can be created. Not sure how it reacts to items with no value in the sort field. not sure how it handles items with the same sort value.
True - but I would think that there SHOULD be an option somewhere in D-Tools to allow you to re-arrange items in a room... strange that no one else has seen the need for this though.

Do you think this would be a function of rearranging the way items are displayed in the PDM and that this can be a driver of report sort order?
Somehow it needs to be data driven.
My guess is a field could be created to set a sort value based on the order in the PDM and then utilize this in a report.
I could see that ... I've seen it in other quote / bid software we've used prior to D-Tools. But - I don't even need it to be a viable field. Right now, it prints in reports in the order it's in the bid. So if I can re-arrange it in the bid - some back end field can put a number on the order and make it transparent to me, the user.
