Default Projects List No Show

Just installed SP2.

Now my projects won't show up in the project list.

The projects folder is set exactly the same as before. I even changed it to the folder that had the .dtl file in it and still no show in the list.

Any ideas?

I guess I figured it out myself, but if I had one hundred project files this would not have been fun.

I imported the SI5 dtl file. Now I guess I have to do the same thing for the rest of my projects = waste of time

I was about to suggest that...

SI5 is different from 4 in that, you can literally save your projects anywhere (networked hd even.... ) the disadvantage is that the projects have to be "registered" in the system so that 5 knows where to look... that was the issue you were having

New problem now.

I can create a vsd file for the dtl file but when it loads up the data matrix is empty.

I keep finding more issues.

-I can create a vsd file for the dtl file but when it loads up the data matrix is empty.

-The only way to open the dtl is to right click the actual file, open with, dtools si5. If I try to open it with the "Open this project in SI Text" it launches visio and tries to open the dtl in visio. Visio then gives me an error stating it can't open a dtl file because it's not a visio file (well duh).

Is the datamatrix just empty, or is there also no "D-Tools" option in the menu bar above?

Also, find a .dtl file on your computer, right-click it, and select "open with..." and then choose SI5, and make sure the "always use this program" button is checked...

Let me know if the above instructions are too vague...

Matrix is empty and the D-Tools option is on the menu bar.

I did the find a dtl file, right click, open with SI5 before you asked to do it. The dtl file opens just fine in text.

Everything worked fine before I left for Cedia. I started work today after lunch and launched SI5. The SP2 release came up and I installed it before I did anything else. Now I've got issues and no work done for the day.

Cedia was excellent and the D-Tools staff took care of every question I had. I'm still recovering from Saturday night.

I doubt this is your issue, but give it a try...

1. Right click on one of the little grey boxes at the top of the Project DataMatrix

2. Now, select [Columns]. You will notice that none of the checkboxes are selected in the [Project DataMatrix Columns] window.

3. Simply check (left click) the columns that you normally view and then left click [OK].

It sounds like your project files might be in a different folder that where SI is looking for them. I assume that you are running a stand-alone (machine install) version of System Integrator. That is, you don't use LANSync.

Try this. Start Navigator and click on the Setup button on the toolbar (or View->Setup on the menu). Check the path for your Projects Folder. This should be the path to where your project files are stored on your local machine. If this is different than the actual directory where your project files are then should be able to correct this by doing the following:
1. Close Navigator and all projects (exit all D-Tools applications)
2. Open Windows Explorer and find your (actual) project folder.
3. Copy the contents of that folder to the directory specified in Projects Folder field in Navigator.
4. Restart Navigator.

Once you do that you should be back in business. Now, if you want to move your local project folder, you can do it from with Navigator by changing the Projects Folder path. Any existing project files will be moved to the new path for you automatically and all relative paths will be corrected (in Navigator).

In general, users should never manually move, rename or delete project files outside of Navigator (except for the case above).

Thanks for the tips guys I appreciate the quick responses.

I was running just fine in SI5 before I installed the SP2. Something with that install was not right. I guess I've got to get a hold of support.
