Default AutoCAD 2010 64bit

I had read that with 5.5 SP1 AutoCAD 2010 and 64 bit AutoCAD were going to be supported. I downloaded and installed the demo it reports as having SP1 installed, however AutoCAD does not show DTools as an addin, and dtshowmenu doesn't work. I'm I under the correct assumption that this didn't make it into SP1. If it hasn't is it on the roadmap to be released?

Thanks in advance

D-Tools 5.5 SP1 works only with 32 bit AutoCAD 2010. None of the 64 bit versions of AutoCAD are supported yet.
D-Tools 5.5 SP1 will work with all the 32 bit versions of AutoCAD (any version from AutoCAD 2006 to AutoCAD 2010).

There are no plans in the very immediate future.

Hi Naresh,

I know it's probably a small percentage of people but you guys really need to support 64 bit for both AutoCAD and Visio .

I wish we could very easily - the issue is we have some components which are Win32 bit like the PDM/ProductExplorer which do not work in AutoCAD 64 bit. Visio does not have a 64 bit version version. Visio 32 bit runs on 64 bit machines and our Visio interface runs fine there.

We do plan to rewrite these components but it will not happen in the very immediate future.

What is the current status of support for 64-bit AutoCAD 2011 or earlier 64-bit versions?

Well, this is quite a doozy. I have been informed that D-Tools will still not work with 64-bit AutoCAD. Fair enough I thought, I'll install 32-bit AutoCAD. But it gets better. For some bizarre reason, AutoCAD has decided to force users to only install 64-bit AutoCAD on 64-bit Windows! So it's impossible to run a current version of AutoCAD with D-Tools with a 64-bit Windows machine! We've now standardized on Windows 7 64-bit, and 64-bit is especially useful on a CAD machine, so there is no way I am going to move back to 32-bit windows so I can use a current version of AutoCAD with D-Tools.

This is totally nuts. I blame AutoCAD for this far more than D-Tools, but after all this time I also don't think it's unreasonable for D-Tools to support 64-bit AutoCAD. We are moving over to AutoCAD in a strong way so I don't know where this leaves us with D-Tools.

This is a problem that obviously needs to be resolved. AutoCAD is and always has been the de facto standard for drawing/CAD software.

D-Tools is also a valuable suite of applications and is more valuable with AutoCAD as an extension of the feature set.

I would hesitate to make any suggestion that D-Tools could be discarded.

Let me check with my friends at Autodesk and see if there is a way to make this work for you David.

Much appreciated fryeguy! I have already discovered a method, there are some hacks out there, but I'm eager to hear what they tell you. I did some researching and there are a whole bunch of AutoCAD users in the same boat that are angry because they use add-ons that only work with 32-bit Autocad, but can't install 32-bit AutoCAD on a 64-bit machine. AutoCAD clearly knows about the issue and it seems they could not care less, and have decided to force people to do that they want, even though they could clearly make it run on 32-bit with no effort, as does just about every other 32-bit program on the face of the earth. Oops..I'm ranting .

Re: D-Tools no plans whatsoever to discard it, that was just a "what do we do now" statement made in exasperation. After I say stuff like that I usually keep working until I find a way around it ;-).
