Default Adding 'filter' & 'Delta description' data fields to a report

Hi,

I'm trying to work out how to add some additional data to a report. I've looked through the report explorer but I can't find what I'm looking for:

The report i'm working on is going to be used for comparing 2 revisions, so it will be run on a delta between 2 revisions. I'd like to detail the description of the delta - this is shown in the main D-tools report view; when you run a delta between 2 revisions, a Description is automatically generated by D-tools, something like "Delta for <Project Name> comparing revisions 2 and 3". Would it be possible to pull that string into a Report? Or alternatively how about pulling the Revision number of each of the revisions that the delta was run on?

The next piece of data may be a little more complicated; I often run filtered reports, and would like to list the filters applied to the generated report at the top. Having had a look within the report explorer, I can see the Filter section but I'm getting rapidly out of my depth and wonder if anyone has tackled this before; any help would be very much appreciated. The aim would be to have a few lines at the top of this Revisions Comparison document saying:
"Filter on 'Zone' Applied: 'RF Distribution' "

Thanks for any help. Richard

Well, both What you are trying to do is possible to a degree but requires a lot of work on your end. The first thing is that I don't know of a way to change the scope of work on the delta report. It is something that we have asked for in the past but has not come up with a solution yet. There may be a way in Crystal reports to pull from a text file but that is above my pay grade

Your second request, i've never heard of the ability to to what you are asking however I do see the value in it. I think both of your requests should be submitted to the D_tools support guys

Submit an Issue

Sorry not to be more helpful but at least you got a response

hi and thanks for your response!

I will suggest this all to the D-tools team.

But I wonder if anyone has any other ideas on the first issue; it appears to me that it isn't likely to be a hard thing to do if it is at all possible. I don't understand Ekal's reference to the scope of work...

any chance a guru could please quickly let me know whether this is a pipe dream or not? I'm hoping it would be relatively straightforward to do:

What I'm trying to achieve is to reference the Description as per the attached screenshot; this is a string generated by D-tools within the Reports Tab when a delta is produced between 2 revision files. It would be useful to know whether it is possible to reference this string or not.

Thanks

Default You can reference

Hi,

Delta Comparision description is carried on dtr:ScopeOfWork field.
You can use this field in your custom report.

Note: After using that field - if you run your custom report for any project (other than delta) then project's scopeofwork information will be displayed.

Hope it helps.

That is incredibly useful - thank you.

Do you think it would be straightforward to indicate in a report which filters are applied as per my original post?

Default You can acheive

Hi,

Yes you can show the applied filters information in your custom report.

This is acheived by using the field "//dtr: DToolsReport/dtrc:ReportCriteria/dtrc:ReportFilters/dtrc:Filter"

Our team already created the "Filter Summary" report which shows filters applied information. You can download that report from here.

Filter summary report will look like this -
filter summary.jpg

What you have to do in your custom report?
Include a subreport control at the report header or footer or wherever you want and bind to the attached (filter summary) report and publish your custom report thats all.

Hope it helps.
