Default Report by Floor then room then zone (system)

Hello,

On the stock proposal report, when I run it, it prints three levels of hierarchy at the top of each section. My location types are set as Building, then Floor, then Room.

For instance:

Smith Residence: Basement: Mechanical Room

Then under that, it has the zones:
Wiring
Audio
Video
Etc

I'd like to have a header or something that says the floor (eg, "1st Floor") then have all the rooms under that.

So, like this:

First Floor

Mechanical Room
Wiring
Audio
Laundry Room
Wiring
Audio
First Floor

Family Room
Wiring
Audio
Litchen
Wiring
Audio
etc.

How do I go about doing that? I'm new at this, but I couldn't find anything in the forums or in the help wiki that described how to do this, but I've seen lots of proposal from competetors that are laid out like this, so I'm sure it's not that hard. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Brendan

The location heirarchy within your project setup should reflect what you want to show in the report. For instance, you might have a project with multiple buildings setup like:

Building:
Main House
Guest House
Barn
Floor:
Main House: 1st Floor
Main House: 2nd Floor
Barn: Main Floor
Barn: Attic
Guest House: Main Floor
Guest House: Loft
Room:
Main House: 1st Floor: Family Room
...
...
The report should follow whatever heirarchy you setup for at least 3 levels. The attached sample shows a snippet from a Proposal by Zone by Location where the Zone is called "Family Room Media System" and the location heirarchy is Building: Main House, Floor: 1st Floor, and Room: Family Room.

Hope this helps.

I read your post again and realized what I suggested is not what you are asking for. I think what you are asking for is pretty difficult if you only want the floor listed once...
and if not difficult, the script is pretty involved.

and my guess is that a report like this can get a little tricky to follow...

Thanks fryeguy. Basically, what I was trying to do was imitate what we do in using Microsoft Word for proposals. Due to the nature of D-Tools, I think I need to lay things out a little differently to get it to present the way I want it to. No big deal--it's always a learning curve when using new software!

Thanks,
Brendan
