New Laptop on Windows 7 - D-Tools Forum

I have a laptop that I upgraded with Windows 7 and 5.5 sp1. The server and other client are still on Vista. The upgrade to 5.5 sp1 on those machines worked fine and they are able to communicate. The laptop with 7 cannot find the server even though I can see it on the network.

Are you able to login to D-Tools (user name and password to connect to the server to allow SI5.5 to open)?

If you are able to launch SI5.5 but unable to connect to the server for MMPD or for projects you need to make sure that the WORKGROUP on the new computer is the same on the other computers first.

Then check the permissions on the shared products and projects folders - make sure on sharing and security that the user group EVERYONE has full access. If all of that checks out, on the new computer go to Start, then Run and type \\nameoftheserver\DToolsV5ProductShare and see if it opens that folder or if it gives you a login prompt for the server machine. If you get the promopt for login credentials enter a user name and password for the server and you should be good to go.
