Default Multiple Package by location - want to split some and not others

Hello,

I have read this post:

Proposal not separating package by location

and I think it explains what I'm trying to do for the most part. The problem I'm having is that when I check the "Show Packages in Proposals" option to False, my prewire packages all get exploded on the report too.

I want to show an AMX hardware package (controller + keypads) in different locations, but would like to keep a prewire package intact.

Any advice?

Thanks.

I don't believe this is possible - as the show packages in reports is a global setting - all or nothing. What I recommend to people when consulting with them on their database and overall processes is to use more room specific packages for things like keypads, speakers and other control devices, very similar to the way you would use a package in a room for a multimedia jack.

We create various 'Room Solution' packages that allow you to assign those various packages to the specific rooms they're installed into and thus have a more logical proposal report display without having to manipulate various settings and use various workarounds to try to force it to work differently.

I think for the most part this methodology has worked for many D-Tools users, others may have their own preferences that work for them as well.

Here are a few examples:

Room Solution - Housewide Audio - 2 Speakers/Keypad

OR

Room Solution - Housewide Audio - 2 Speakers/Keypad w/ wiring

We'll typically build these packages using your most common speakers/ keypad solutions and in the cases where you use something different we prefer to use the 'Find and Replace tool to swap one keypad or speaker for another.

Some people will just add their control devices as stand alone items into the project - another option.

Sorry I don't have solution for your original request, but hopefully this can be helpful for you in some way.
