Default Business Manager Reports

OK, I modified our Work Order By Location report and saved the file on our network drive for my purchaser/scheduler. How and where does she go to import it. When we try to import it from the reports section, it tells me the the BMR.report is not a valid file extension. where in Biz manager do I import the file to her computer?

Well, Finally I figured out how to get it into my purchasers computer. But now I get an error that says:

"An Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation"

Anyone know what that means?

I would prefer it to say " you are an idiot, please adjust your page margins" or something like that, becasue then I would understand what it is telling me!

I hate that message as well. It is all but useless. It gives no information at all!

When I get this message it usually means that I have written a script that is attempting to assign a value to a report control, like a text box or rich text box. I usually have spelled something wrong.

ReportUtilities.SetTextBoxValue() is the usual suspect.

Do you write any script code?

Did it work on your machine and not on purchaser's?

ahhh, it would seem that I should probably be able to answer your questions. I deleted 1 item from the standard report. I deleted the CompID box from the report. I did not add anything (that is a data field). I changed the word "Comments" to "Serial Number". Other than that, I did not alter any other info. OOPS, I also deleted the SI5 logo and the company name and address. That is all. No I did not code anything, just created a report based on the existing work order by location.

And no I can't run the report on my machine because I do not have access to quickbooks so I cannot direct my quicklinks to the QBW file to open it. I have no idea why there is no preview buttun in the ordering and scheduling report designer.....that would make things easier for me.

The logo and address are probably the problem. I noticed that they are referenced in the code near the top. If there are referenced in a ..set... command, it will usually cause a problem.

Not sure about the other stuff.

If you don't want to deal with code, the safest thing to do is to set the control Visibility to False and the size to something like .01, .01.

Otherwise you need to look through the script for the "Name" of the control and delete the code or Comment it Out, which I prefer.

I could never find a "search" feature for the Scripts so I copy and paste in WordPad to search for text, like the Name of a control. It is really dumb, that there is no search.

Default Preview Option is there for OA & Scheduling reports

There is a way to preview your customized Order & Scheduling reports.

For example – While customizing the Project report, to preview the report -
  • Navigate to Scheduling tab (without closing the report designer)
  • Then click the Reports --> Project Reports menu, there you can find a menu item which shows (PREVIEW – custom project report name)

Similarly preview option is available for other customized Work order, Service order, Task, Sales order reports in the corresponding Report menu.

Once you start customizing the OA reports and before you publish them they appear with the word “PREVIEW – “before the report name in the appropriate menus so you can test.

Hope it helps.
