Default How do I...

Filter a report to only include the items in the rough-in phase and multiple rooms, but not all the rooms in a proposal, or summary, or any report for that matter?

Example;

Using the Location Schema below, what is the correct filter setting to determine the costs for rough-in of the Studio, Loft, and Work Area?

Area: Winery

Room: Tasting Room
Room: Retail Area

Area: Gallery Building

Room: Studio
Room: Loft
Room: Work Area

HINT: 'Not Equal to'

Default Phase Equal To and Location In

Kevin,

Try these settings:

Phase Equal To Rough-In
And Location In (Tasting Room, Retail Area, ...)

As noted elsewhere (Filtering by phase), if you use the Proposal report (any variation), you will not see items in packages in the items list (since packages do not have a phase), or accessories whose parent is not in the rough-in phase (since the parent will get filtered out).

However, all items in the rough-in phase will be included in the calculations for the project summary so the totals are correct.

Also - the Line Item report will show ALL items in this phase, so you can use that to confirm that the total pricing is accurate. For the moment, that is a better report to run if you need to filter by phase.

We are working toward a solution that will allow you filter by phase AND see packages in the way that one would expect. Please use the thread above for discussions about this.

Hope this helps.

Randy

Thanks Randy,

The challenge is to show these items that are in multiple location.

Your solution only covers 1 location...

Not true. When you use the IN operator, you get a list of locations with checkboxes that allow you to select one or more. Simply select the ones you are interested in (Studio, Loft, and Work Area).

OH!

NICE, I'll try it!

Is this in the user guide?

There is documentation on this:

In the main list of documents:
http://downloads.d-tools.com/si5/doc..._Documents.mht

There's a document in the Basics section titled: Reporting Center Overview (DTU class)

Here's a direct link:

http://downloads.d-tools.com/si5/rep...ing_Center.pdf

It has a section on filtering data which discusses filtering.

Thank You!

I love it when a user asks a question that is the exact same question I have.

Glad there is a solution, it was driving me nuts not knowing I could do it. The filter function was confusing to a "set in their ways" guy like me.
