Is it my imagination that the two reports are using the product description instead of the client description?

I looked at the report in the report designer, but that is still kind of foreign to me.

If the reports are suppose to use the product description, then what is the purpose of the client description?

You are correct the client reports are using the product description. We will post a sample report next week using the client description. You can make this modification yourself by creating a duplicate of an existing report and modifying the description field

I believe the best solution for Client Reports would be to always show the Client Description unless it was blank, in which case you would show the Product Description.

Isn't that the behavior that 4.6 used?

Afaik, Client reports use Client Descriptions and use the other description only if Client Desc. is blank.

My vote, it should def. work that way.

In SI 4.6 you could pick one or the other, but it would not "autoselect". Once I get a chance to dive into the reporting center, I will post a possible solution. However, the dev team may have something next week.

We could never gt SI4 to consistantly show the client description. If I have a vote it's to show the client description in all client reports and show the product description in all management reports. We like to have a very simple lifestyle based description for the client and a technical descrption for our use.

Yeah, I tweaked the Crystal report to correct that for V4.6. I just hated having to enter two descriptions, if is was not necessary. So if the Client Description was blank, it would revert to the Product Description.

This is why whenever entering data, you take 1/2 of a second and copy/paste the product description into the client description field as SOP.

That way you always have a description of some type if you have embellished a client description or two or three no matter if you choose product desription or client description in your reports.

We imported our Descriptions from the spreadsheets provided by the Manufacturers to assure that orders were placed correctly (no typing). Then the sales team would modify Client Description as needed. No cut and paste required. But go with whatever works for you.
