We use price levels, for storing MSRP and MAPP price levels. These vary by individual product so a rule would not work... Example is TV manufacturer publishes pricing with MSRP and MAPP columns. Depending on the client or competitive issues we choose to sell at one or the other level.
However in all our application, we never chance the cost for the part, just the sell price.
